Hello, I’m Ada. I’m about to grow this blog as tech blog.
How to Open USB Safely in your Computer/Laptop
September 18, 2008I made this article because of my Nightmare with a Key Logger Worm. This is based on my experience. Tips are all from my brother. This is to prevent your USB from transferring its malware or viral content to your computer once it is inserted in system.
Following these 9 steps is your way to keep your computer/laptop.
1. Read these Articles first on How to Disable Autorun and How to Disable Autoplay of USB Drives. It is better to reboot or restart your computer to see the results. 2. Some worms are hidden so to view hidden files, you need to do this.
My Computer > Tools (Menu) > Folder Options > View > Hidden Files and Folders > Show hidden file sand folders > Apply.
3. Your computer is now ready for the USB battle!
4. Insert the USB.
5. You notice that the pop-up autoplay window is gone. Better!
6. Go now to My Computer and Oops! DO NOT double click the USB Drive! Just Right click and click Explore. Because when you double click the USB drive, the tendency is that it will automatically run the autorun.inf and explode!
7. You are now inside the USB, if you notice a strange folders with .exe, don’t be fool because it is absolutely not a Folder! It’s a worm!
Examples of these worms are:
● sex video.exe
● gwen(ISU) scandal.exe
● zeluR maeTCP.exe
● FS6519.dll.vbs, FS6519.dll, autorun.ini - These are the famous Taga Lipa Are
8. Remember that each folder contains .exe, so everytime you want to open a folder, DO NOT double click the folder, just right click and Explore, until you deleted all worms just you did in step #6.
9. If you find this article interesting, spread this to your Friends. If you have additional worm discovery in your USB, feel free to post a comment and specify the worm name.
